Our First Taste of Kindergarten

A couple of weeks ago, we found out that the elementary school down the street was offering story time for preschoolers that will be entering kindergarten next year. I thought that was such a great idea! It will be a fun way for Clayton to get comfortable with the school that he will probably attend next year and (hopefully) ease my nerves a little bit too. :)

Today was the first story time, and it was great! To say that I have a little bit of anxiety about Clayton going to kindergarten next year would be a huge understatement. To be honest, just the thought of it makes my eyes well up with tears. I feel like how we choose to school our kids is the next big hurdle in our journey through parenting our kids. There are so many options (public school, private school, university programs, homeschooling) and so much pressure that I honestly don't know what to do. Wade and I are both praying for discernment to determine what is best for our family.

I must say that visiting our elementary school today gave me such a peace about Clayton going there. Everyone was so warm and friendly! I immediately recognized the librarian from our church. That definitely made me feel good. One of my prayers is that my kids' will always have godly men and women as teachers (whether that be in public school or private school). I think that is so important. I wondered when I met the librarian if that was God's little way of showing me that our public schools are filled with Christian teachers. That thought is such a comfort to me!

Clayton loved story time and is so excited to go again!

Is it just me or does a "real" school make him look even more grown up???

As for my littlest baby, he has decided that baby food is so last month. He will still eat baby oatmeal for breakfast and rice cereal before bed, but prefers finger foods during the day. His favorites right now are avocados, green beans, bananas and blueberries.

I have been trying to offer him a sippy cup more often since I know that bottles will be a thing of the past in the next month or so. Yesterday he crawled around all day with his sippy in his mouth. Too funny. ;)

He hasn't officially taken any steps yet, but he is pretty dang close. He is getting really brave with his furniture cruising. He lets go of one piece of furniture and lunges to the next. It probably won't be long before he is toddling around. That will be good for my back, but hard on my heart. :)

Today Drew has been super attached to a golf ball. Weird, huh? He has held it all morning long. He even held it while he was eating. I included this picture for his Grammie & Papaw. Looks like y'all may have a little golfing buddy before too long. Ha!

Happy Friday! Hope y'all have a good weekend!

Oh, my that Clayton looks like such a big boy! He is gonna love school next year! That is an awesome program his possible future school offers.

Praise God for placing Godly people in our schools, too. Crazy, small world that you recognized the librarian from the church.

We will also pray for Clayton and his special year next year...that God would place caring Christian role models in his path.

That Drew and his golf ball. Tooooooo funny! That will make Todd proud as well! Ha!

Clayton is such a handsome guy. I think his school might be ready for him. He is so tall and grown up looking. And that precious Drew... I wonder if Tiger or Phil carried a ball around at 11+ months. You and Wade are so blessed.
