Every year, my boys are sweet to indulge me in a Spring photo shoot. Usually, they don their Easter clothes and sit in the tulips at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens. ;) This year, there wasn't a tulip to be found at our usual spot. I was so surprised! We made do and still got lots of cute shots. On the way home, I talked the boys into taking a few more pics in the bluebonnets. Now, that's love! :)

Spring Pictures - 4/7/15
After Owen and I had such a fun time at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens, I decided that I'd like to go back with all of the boys and snap a few Spring pictures. There wasn't ever a great time to go, and I knew that we were on borrowed time with the tulips. So... I made the last minute decision to swing by there on the way home from school on April 7th. I literally grabbed polos as I was waking Owen up to walk out the door for pick up.
I had woken Owen up from his nap and the boys were tired after a long day at school... Awesome!
We were going at 3:30 when the sun is the brightest and good lighting is hard to come by... Awesome!
The gardeners were literally pulling up the tulips as we arrived... Awesome!
I forgot Owen's shoes... Awesome!
We were off to a good start. Ha!
The boys were actually super sweet about posing for pictures, even though it isn't their favorite thing to do. They know that I love pictures of my handsome fellas, so they did it for me. We didn't get any exceptional shots, but I was proud of them for being so compliant. I even spotted a bluebonnet patch on the way home (they were super sparse this year!) and casually mentioned that it sure would be nice to stop and grab a few more photos... They mustered all of their strength and smiled for a few more. They are so good to their Mama! :)

Obligatory Bluebonnet Pictures 2013
I love, love, love bluebonnet pictures! I try hard to snap a few photos of my boys in the bluebonnets each year. This year, however, it seemed like it just wasn't going to happen - it was a busy month for our family, I couldn't find a good patch of flowers, the wimpy patches that I did find were on the highway (no picture is worth chancing my kids' safety), etc. I had made peace with the fact that there would be no traditional bluebonnet pics for my sweet little brood of boys. :(
Then... on the way home from visiting Grammie & Papaw last weekend, I found the perfect patch in a fenced in area far off of the highway. I had matching polos and my camera in the car. It was almost sunset, so the lighting was great. It's like it was meant to be. :)
I knew that I had gotten some good pictures of my babies (mostly by jumping up and down like a lunatic!), and I was just thrilled. My excitement was short-lived, however, when I realized that I couldn't find my keys. Ruh-roh....
I looked at that huge field of dense bluebonnets and went into full blown panic mode. Here's the situation:
1. My husband was on the other side of the world. Literally. Wade was in Tokyo at that very moment.
2. I was an hour from home.
3. My cell phone was in the locked car.
4. It was almost sunset.
5. There was only one other family in sight.
To say that I was a little stressed is a massive exagerration.
I went to the family that was still there taking pictures and explained the situation. I begged them not to leave until I found my keys. Then... I ran around that field like a chicken with my head cut off. The big boys were helping me look and Owen was trailing behind me crying, "Mama, Mama, Mama, hold you, hold you...." Bless his heart, he was done by this point. I was just praying that the Lord would help me find them. It was awful. I wasn't in tears yet, but I was close.
Then, I saw them out of the corner of my eye - I have never been so relieved! I was so grateful that I have a massive key fob and every loyalty card known to man on my key ring. Ha! Crisis averted. Thank you, Lord!
This may be the final year of bluebonnet pictures for this mom-tographer. ;)
