Storybook Parties & College Jersey Day

Our little school tries to celebrate the fun of Fall without doing all of the yuck Halloween types of things.  Our Grammar school kids have the option of dressing up like a storybook character for their party day.  The Logic & Rhetoric kids had a college jersey day and played flag football.  It was fun for everyone!

Drew dressed up as Captain America and brought a superhero book.  He won a sucker during musical chairs, so he was a happy camper.  ;)

I got a picture with my friend, Jinny's, newborn last year at our kids' storybook party.  Now Wyatt is a brand new 1 year old and is just so stinkin' cute!

My big boy is all about Texas A&M these days, and I could not be prouder!  He was decked out in Aggie gear for college jersey day.  I wore my A&M shirt as a sign of solidarity.  Ha!

Fall Fair

One of the local churches was having a Fall Fair.  Some friends invited us to go, so we had a little impromptu Wednesday night fun.  :)

The boys went rock climbing, played games, and got tons of candy.  It was so much fun!

Halloween Happenings 2014

This year was definitely the year of the superhero at the Carpenter Casa!  Our boys chose Captain America, Thor, and Spiderman costumes.  They were pretty cute, if I do say so!

My sister, brother in law, and nephews came for a visit and we took the boys to "Brick or Treat" at Legoland.  The boys had a ball!  We had another Thor, the Hulk, and a precious little monkey to add to the mix.  I've never felt so safe!  ;)

We got to see the girls in costume at their church's trunk or treat.  Mak helped with a Duck Dynasty car, and Morgan was a pop star. 

The boys had Storybook Character Day on October 30th.  Drew brought his Superhero Storybook and dressed as Thor.  Clayton brought a book about the Airforce and dressed as a fighter pilot.

I had the bright idea to carve pumpkins with the boys while Wade was out of town.  Drew chose an intricate Ninja Turtle pattern online, and Clayton freehanded a design.  Then they played and watched TV for an hour while their Mama scooped pumpkin guts, carved away with a mini saw, and tried not to butcher the whole thing.  At what point will they carve their own pumpkins???

They were pretty happy with the end result.  ;)

On Halloween night, Owen decided that he didn't want to wear his mask.  Three year olds are so fickle!  So... we improvised with some face paint.  :)

Our sweet neighbor, Mrs. Katy, was kind enough to haul Owen around in the wagon all night.  She is a saint!  I was just going to make him walk, but he sure did enjoy the ride in between houses.  Check out that Cheshire Cat grin!  He knows that he has it good!

These crazies ended up with an insane amount of candy!  I put it all in one bag and weighed it.  17 pounds, I kid you not!

Halloween 2013

Snake Eyes, Luke Skywalker (as an X-wing pilot), and a sweet lion all had fun walking the neighborhood and talking to all of our neighbors.

Somewhere along the way, it became a tradition to stop at this particular house to take a picture on their step.  Clayton was thrilled that he had a mask this year, so he didn't have to actually smile.  Ha!

 Mr. Rick pretended to be a scarecrow and then said, "Boo!" when the kids went to get candy out of his bucket.  He scared our Drew half to death!  He felt horrible, so he went easy on Owie.  ;)

 Even Daddy dressed up this year.  He wore his Ghostbusters costume from his 80s themed 30th birthday.  Fun Dad, for sure.

If I am being honest, there are lots of things that I dislike about Halloween, but it is fun to dress up (in non-scary costumes) and hang out with our neighbors.  It was a fun night for our little band of brothers!  :)

Halloween 2012

Our kids started planning their Halloween costumes shortly after the tobyMac concert.  We bought Clayton and Drew a poster for their room before the concert.  The next day, Clayton noticed that Toby had a tattooed wedding ring.  He brought me the face paint and asked me to paint him a faux wedding ring tattoo.  From there, we added a soul patch with adhesive backed felt, and ta-da... he was a pretty cute version of Toby!

He suggested that Drew could be Chris August, who opened for tobyMac.  Little brother went along with the plan.

Add an elephant to the mix, and you have our little trio!

My sweet little O sat happily in his stroller for the whole block.  He wasn't interested in candy, but he was super happy with my glass of ice water.  I have a feeling he won't be so easy to please next Halloween...  :)

Clayton wore that same elephant costume when he was 1 1/2, and Drew wore a lion costume when he was 1.  I loved them both so much and had the hardest time deciding which one to put Owen in.  I ended up choosing on the elephant, but took some pictures of him in the lion costume as well.  Both are so stinkin' cute.  

We had a fun evening walking around our neighborhood and visiting with neighbors.  :)
