Owen at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens - 4/2/14

This year, I have been going to BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) in Grapevine on Wednesday mornings.  The big boys are in school on Monday/Wednesday, so it is just me and Owen.  On April 2nd, we were driving home when I decided to make an impromptu detour to the Grapevine Botanical Gardens to see if the tulips were still in bloom.  I didn't have my big fancy camera, I didn't have a cute outfit for O to wear, and I didn't have anything to fix his hair.  But... we still had the best time walking around together, and I managed to get some cute pictures of our time together using the camera on my phone.

This one is my favorite!  Classic 2 year old Owen - missing half of his front tooth, adorable wavy curls, and his signature sweet smile.  Man, I sure do love this boy!

I'm learning more and more each day that sometimes the sweetest moments are the ones that aren't planned.  One-on-one time with this precious boy is a blessing whenever I can get it.  I'm glad that I chose quality time with him over rushing home to get him a nap on this particular day.  :)

Chihuly Nights Date Night

When Wade and I were dating in high school, he would plan the most fun dates.  While everyone else was going on the standard dinner and a movie date, Wade was taking me to musicals, the Plano Balloon Festival, and the Mesquite Rodeo.  I am fairly certain that Wade was the only 17 year old in the metroplex that scoured The Guide (that came in the Dallas Morning News) for date ideas.  Ha!

Seventeen years later...  my Hubs still plans the best dates.  :)

Years ago, Wade and I had seen a documentary on Dale Chihuly, an amazing glass blower.  We both fell in love with his work.  We were thrilled to hear that the Dallas Arboretum was hosting a Chihuly exhibit with many of his sculptures.  Unfortunately, the Chihuly Nights exhibit was sold out every time that we checked the website.  I was sad that we wouldn't get to go, but had just resided myself to the fact that it wasn't going to happen.  However... last week, while Wade was out of town, he saw that they had released tickets for this weekend.  He bought tickets for Saturday night and booked a babysitter ASAP!  I was thrilled when he told me.  :)

We had the best time walking around and looking leisurely at all of the sculptures.  Wade packed a delicious picnic and we ate on a bench overlooking the lake.  I loved every minute!

Pictures could never do the sculptures justice, but I couldn't help snapping away.  Surprise, surprise.  ;)

Aqua Blue and Amber Chandelier

Mirrored Hornets

Persian Pond

Every little element was so intricate!  It made my head spin to think about each one being created separately, shipped one by one, and then reassembled into this massive work of art.  So cool....
White Belugas
Fiori Sun

Red Reeds
Dallas Star
Blue Icicles
We had so much fun together!  Thanks, Honey, for taking the initiative to plan such a fun night!

Dallas Blooms

On Monday, Drew and I met my sweet friend from high school, Kati, at the Dallas Arboretum. I love the Arboretum, and used to take Clayton several times a year when we lived closer. It was just as beautiful as I remembered, and we had so much fun.

Drew was in a great mood and was so easy. I would ask, "Do you want me to take your picture with those flowers?" Everytime he would say, "Yes!" and then bounce over to where I told him to stand and smile. He's so good to his Mama...

We had a little picnic lunch by the lake. Drew wasn't quite sure what to think about Miss Hannah...
until she tickled him...
then he decided that she was pretty fun. :)
He was cheering her on as she crawled on the grass. It was so cute! I asked Kati, "Did you ever think, back in 1997, that we would be watching our babies play in 2011???" ;)

It was a beautiful Spring day filled with flowers, friends, and one of my favorite boys. :)
