Down the Drain...

You know how sometimes bad things happen and you get that terrible feeling in the pit of your stomach? I got that feeling today. I really think that I physically died for a few minutes. It was the worst feeling ever!

I have never been able to sleep in jewelry. I don't know why, but I just can't. I take off all my jewelry at night and put it on the dresser. This morning I woke up and threw some clothes on just in time to meet my sister-in-law and nieces at the door. I am watching them today so that my sis-in-law can go to an in service. All the kids were playing well and we were having a great morning. We decided to go play outside and go swimming. I got all the kids dressed in their swim gear and went to put my suit on. I realized that I hadn't put on my wedding ring yet. I went to my dresser and there (laying just were I had laid them last night) were my earrings and necklace. But...no wedding ring. I immediately went into panic mode tearing the house apart. I quizzed the kids about where the ring was. Clayton said, "It in da potty." I am sure that I went completely pale and my heart stopped for a few beats. I ran to my toilet. No ring. Clayton followed me in there and said, "It in my potty" very emphatically. My oldest niece piped in with, "I just flushed that potty, but I didn't see it." Oh no...

I tried to call Wade, but there was no answer. I sat in the entry way and began to sob my eyeballs out. All that I could think about was my precious ring that means more to me than any other earthly possession floating somewhere in the sewage. Just then, like in a movie, I saw a glimmer inside my tennis shoe in the entry. It was my ring!!! Whew, that was a close one. I shall NEVER take it off of my finger again. I will spend the rest of the week training myself to sleep in it. :)

Contract Pending...

We have spent months debating, stressing, discussing, and praying about selling our house. As many of you know, Wade has been commuting 45 miles each way to work since August. We finally decided to bite the bullet and put our house on the market. We figured that it would take months and were dreading the entire process. Below is a timeline of the events of our house selling experience thus far. :)

- Wednesday night: Realtor picks up the paperwork to get the process started and to take pictures of the house

- Thursday afternoon @ 3:30 they came and put the sign in the front yard

- Friday morning the MLS information went online

- Friday @ noon the showing company called to say that someone would come to look at the house between 1:30-2:30

- Clayton and I rushed home from the pool to vacuum, open all the blinds, and make it "show ready"

- Friday @ 4pm the showing company called to say that someone would come to look at the house between 5-7

- Friday night @6:30 the realtor called to tell us that the first people that looked at the house submitted a contract that was a great offer (YAY!!!)

- Saturday we countered, the house showed 2 more times, and then they accepted our counter offer

It was a whirlwind few days, but it seems to be going really well. It turns out that the buyers go to our church and we know them (they didn't realize that it was our house b/c I had taken down all of the pictures). They are a very sweet couple and I hope that they enjoy our home as much as we have. They needed to close by August 10th (that's right, folks, three weeks from now!!!!), which we agreed to. So... we are scrambling to find an apartment to live in while we search for the perfect house. Hopefully, all the pieces of the puzzle will continue to fall into place. I am just thrilled that I don't have to keep trying to keep our house spotless with our crazy kiddo. :)

Harvard Bound?

I don't know if our little guy is Harvard bound, but he sure does look cute in his new shirt. My dear friend, Kati, just graduated with her Masters from Harvard. I am so proud of her! She bought Clayton this shirt before she left campus. Thanks Kati! I definately think that the glasses add a special touch. he he he

The Zoo... In July??? What were we thinking?

That's right, folks... Angie and I took our two favorite monkeys to the zoo today. I have been wanting to take Clayton for months, but it just hasn't worked out with our schedule. So... we decided that today was the day. Why we chose to take our kids on an ozone day in July, I don't know. But, we had fun anyway. :) Both kids did really well. (They didn't complain nearly as much as Angie and I did.) They were very sweet together. They gave each other several hugs and held hands throughout the day. We start swimming lessons this evening. Should be interesting...

10 Year Reunion

This weekend was my 10 year high school reunion! I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it was very laid back and fun. There were about 15 people that attended the events, which is a great turn out considering that there were only 38 people in our class. I guess that in my mind I pictured it being like "Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion." It was nothing like that. :) There were no fancy cars, designer gowns, professionally done hair & makeup, or anyone bragging about inventing Post-It Notes. he he he It was just a group of people that had a common past that got together to hang out. I didn't feel pressured to look a certain way or boast about my accomplishments. It was just a really relaxed, mellow environment. I am definately glad that I went. Thanks to Tiffany and Leanne for planning a great reunion!

Craft Day

Well... I'm already slacking off. I'm just now posting pictures from craft day on Thursday. :) Halie, Katie, and Leigh Ann came over to make my new favorite craft - deco podged letters. We had a lot of fun! Tonight is my 10 year reunion dinner. At the rate that I am going, pics should be posted by mid week. he he he

Fourth of July

We had a great fourth of July this year! It sprinkled a little during the day, but it was nice in the evening. Clayton got to play with his buddy, Walker, and then we all went to see the fireworks. Clayton loved waving the American flag and naming off every color of the fireworks. (I'm sure that the people around us enjoyed hearing a 2-year-old's commentary.) I think the highlight of the day for Clayton was getting to chow down on some Cheetos (a rare treat). :)

Our first attempt at a blog....

Well, kids, here goes nothing! We are going to attempt to keep up with a blog. (I am 6 months behind on scrapbooking, I have a stack of unread Parents magazines on my nightstand, and I have 12 burp cloths that I need to be sewing on. Remind me again why I think that I will actually be able to keep up with a blog?) Our first entry is pictures from the last few months. Hopefully this will be easier than sending a massive email. :)

I debated about this blogging thing for a long time. In the end I decided that I will give it a try. I will try to be good about updating it, but no promises. :)
