DIY Christmas Decor

Christmas is less than 3 weeks away!!! I'm so excited about the holidays this year! I feel like last Christmas was a total blur. I had a 6 week old, so I was totally sleep deprived and hormonal. I could barely find the time to shower, much less decorate/shop/wrap gifts/cook/plan fun activities for Christmas. Thankfully, it all got done (mostly by my hubby), and Christmas was great.

This year, however, I am getting a full nights rest and feel so much more "with it" than I did at this time last year. I am geared up to celebrate the birth of Christ! There is nothing more worthy of celebration!

I love decorating our home for Christmas! I love putting up my nativity sets, hanging the stockings, putting ornaments on the tree, etc. I think that our house looks its very best when it is decked out in all of its Christmas glory. Love it!

This year, I didn't want to spend gobs of money on new decorations. I just wanted to make a few things to add to what we already had. I worked on a few projects that came out pretty cute. I thought that I would share, in case you wanted to make some pretty decorations without spending a lot of moo-lah. :)

1. I saw this wreath on Eddie Ross. I loved it! I thought it was such a cute idea. But... he used like 80 ornaments, and I knew that could get pricey. Then I saw ornaments at the Dollar Tree - 5 for $1. I snatched up as many as I could get my hands on and headed home. I came up a few ornaments short, so I had to hit up Hob Lob. They weren't 5 for a $1, but they were 50% off. So, still not too expensive. I hot glued the caps on, and strung them on a wire hanger. Voila! Isn't it pretty?
2. I have been admiring this wreath, also. But, there were 2 problems. 1.) They didn't have "C" anymore. 2.) Even on clearance, it would have been close to $40 (with shipping & handling). Then I remembered the cardboard letters from Joann's that I have used for other projects. I painted my "C" green (in case any of the letter showed through). Then I wrapped garland (50% off at Hob Lob - it took 2 pieces) around it. I added a few berry picks, too. Not too shabby...

3. I wanted to make/buy an advent calendar for Clayton this year. But, I ran out of time. :( On December 1st, I saw this idea on Make & Takes. I thought it would be a fun project for Clayton and I. So, we put it together that afternoon. It was fun to make, and he likes pulling off one of the rings each morning. Even though it is December 7th, you could still make a smaller version of this. Just leave off the bottom row before you put on your trunk.
There you have it! Cute decorations for not too much $$$. Merry Christmas!!!

Love all your Christmas Craft-i-ness! I am sooo inspired! I love it when the "craft bug" bites you. I learn so much! My fave is the Christmas "C"...what a darling idea! You know I am crazy about wreaths, but I love that new take on it.

Thanks for sharing!
