We DON'T Like Ike

We have gotten LOTS of phone calls today from concerned friends and family that were worried about my parents, sister, and brother-in-law. They all live in the Houston area and decided to stay and ride out the storm. Thankfully, they are all safe. They both have damage to their fences and are all without electricity. My parents' home phone is working, but they cannot get cell phone reception. We have been able to talk to them via their land line, so at least we have a way of contacting them.

My main concern is their lack of electricity. It could be a very long time before their power is restored. I worry that they may get too hot without air conditioning. I cannot imagine how miserable that must be! I am also worried about my Mom's wheelchair battery running out and them having no way to recharge the battery. Without her chair, my mom will be stuck in the bed. So, please pray that electricity will restored soon. I know, of course, that it could be MUCH worse. I am so grateful that they are all safe and their homes did not receive much damage. Hopefully, they will get their electricity back soon and will be able to recover from the storm. Thanks for all your prayers and concerns!

I think mom and dad are going to come here for a break from the heat, but we don't have a bed mom can sleep in so I don't know how long they'll stay.

We are at Becca's and Jeff's. We had no power when we left at 10:30 on Sunday. I really want to be able to go back to our house. Maybe soon. We are feeling your prayers and concern. It could have been so much worse. It was time to clean the freezer and refrigerator anyway! :D)

So glad to hear that they are okay! We are sending our prayers there for sure! Glad that at least one of them has power, that makes it so much better! Let us know if we can do anything!

So glad your family is ok. Leigh Ann told us this morning. I love your blog - it's amazing! Clayton is adorable, and such a big boy! Now I can keep up with you guys more easily. Tell Wade hi.

Our parent's still don't have power, but they got 20 lbs. of ice and there's a cool front so they are making it for now. Please pray they get their power back because my mom can't sleep at our house even though we have power because we can't move the hospital bed and they are scared to drive here too many times in their van because gas is scarce.
