The Joy of Boys...

We spent the last two weekends visiting my parents and Wade's parents. My doctor isn't too keen on me traveling for much longer, so I wanted to try to squeeze in one last visit to each of our parents. Clayton had so much fun with his grandparents. He spent his time in Houston playing with Papa D, Becca, and Jeff. They have a cool marble toy that he LOVES to play with while he is there. He also spent much of the time guarding his Gran from "bad guys." That imagination is still going strong! This past weekend he swam, fished, and played mini golf with Papaw and Grammie. As we were leaving each of their homes, I reminded both sets of grandparents that this was our last visit with our "only." :) It is yet to be determined how Clayton will do sharing his grandparent time with his little brother...

I somehow managed to miss capturing any of the weekend fun from the last two weekends on my camera. Those of you who know me realize how odd that it is for me to be without my camera. I guess that I can blame the oversight on "pregnancy brain." HA! I did manage to snap one picture to illustrate the following story:

On the way home from my parents in Houston we stopped for dinner. There is a stretch of highway between Houston and Dallas where there is nothing - no gas station, no fast food places, no stores. We ate and took a bathroom break at the Dairy Queen just before that stretch. We got reloaded in the car and headed down the highway. After a few minutes, Clayton said, "I gotta go tee tee." Of course.... We thought that he would be able to hold it for 10 or 15 minutes, but he soon replied with a louder, "I need to go tee tee now!" Wade put the blinker on at the next exit. I said, "What are you doing? There is no where to stop for several more exits." Wade said, "When he's gotta go, he's gotta go. I'll just let him go on the side of the road." I was mortified, but realized that there was no other option (aside from cleaning up a big mess!).

Wade exited and pulled off onto a side road. He unbuckled Clayton and explained to him that it was okay, just this once, to tee tee outside. Clayton ran to the nearest patch of grass and pulled down his pants. As he was mid-stream, I noticed the name of the ranch that he was peeing in front of...

Oh my word- will the good Lord ever forgive us??? When Wade got back to the car I said, "That was wrong on so many levels!" He busted out in song (to the tune of the hymn "We Are Standing On Holy Ground"), "He is peeing on Holy Ground. 'Cause we know there are no bathrooms all around..."

I'm crying; that is the best story - and so you and Wade. Clayton comes by his sense of humor and imagination honestly. We enjoy your visits so much. I only wish we were closer. Maybe one of these days....
